IEC 62443 is the international standard for industrial automation and control systems (IACS) cybersecurity. It consists of multiple parts covering general concepts, system requirements, component requirements, and secure development lifecycle. The standard defines Security Levels (SL1-SL4) for target risk mitigation and provides 8 SDL practices in IEC 62443-4-1 with 4 maturity levels (ML1-ML4).

Applies to industrial automation and control systems (IACS) owners, operators, maintainers, and integrators. Covers asset owners (IACS operators), product suppliers (component manufacturers), and service providers. Includes SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and field devices.
